Stephen Ward was born in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 20, 1985. As an excellent professional left-back or winger in Ireland football kits, he could be put into many positions rather than the single position referred above. In the summer of 2003, Ward turned to be a member of Bohemians of Dublin-based League of Ireland. In 2003, he made the first appearance in a competition against Skerries Town as a substitute. During the period played for Bohemians, he accumulated 26 goals in 93 matches, making great contributions to the football club.
He started his senior playing career with Bohemians in Ireland prior to transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers of English Championship in 2007. For outstanding performances in six matches, he earned himself a promising future by three goals. After played for Wolverhampton Wanderers of English Championship, he was loaned to League One in 2013, providing great help for the team. In 2011, Stephen Ward was capped for the Ireland national football team in a match against Scotland, and in a match against Macedonia. Since being a regular member of the Ireland national football team in 2011, he has played at UEFA Euro 2012 and UEFA Euro 2016.
